When you consume food that you have purchased at a store or restaurant in Fulton County, Georgia, you expect that it will be safe for you and your family to eat. However, after a recent E. coli scare in Michigan, people may be thinking twice about the safety of their food.
There were a total of 11 people who were infected with E. coli from eating ground beef that was recalled from a packing company in Michigan. Those infected began to show signs from April 22 to May 1. Around sixty percent of those infected required hospitalization due to their illness. Symptoms of an E. coli infection include abdominal cramps and diarrhea and can be especially dangerous and even deadly to infants, the elderly and those with a weakened immune system.
One of the people infected was a woman who is seeking a minimum of $25,000 in a products liability lawsuit filed against the company that produced the ground beef. The woman said she required a six day hospital stay after she became ill on April 23. Prior to her becoming sick, she ate meals containing ground beef at two different restaurants. One of these restaurants used beef that is part of the recall.
This woman did the right thing by retaining a lawyer to help her fight for her right to compensation for the damages she sustained as a result of her illness. Hopefully her lawsuit will help her receive the compensation she needs for her medical expenses and pain and suffering.
According to reports, the woman had several deep cuts, including one that reached a joint in her ankle. The woman had to undergo surgery and she has incurred nearly $40,000 in medical bills. However, no one has accepted responsibility at this time. Now the woman has filed a $455,000 lawsuit, which claims that the glass was not securely attached to the wall.
If the lawsuit goes to trial and the court finds in this woman’s favor, then she could receive the compensation for which she is asking.
