Overview

Amanda represents clients in both criminal and civil matters in state and federal court. Her practice primarily focuses on criminal defense and she has experience defending all types of cases from DUI, to violent felonies, to white collar crime. She has appeared in federal courts in Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee, New York, and Kentucky. She is admitted to the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, as well as the Court of Appeals of Georgia, and the Supreme Court of Georgia.

Notable Case Results:

  • State of Georgia v. Sluder – Former jailer was charged with having illegal sexual contact with two inmates as well as violation of oath of office. Before deliberations, the judge dismissed one count. After deliberations, the jury returned a Not Guilty verdict as to one count and was hung 10-2 for acquittal as to the remaining two counts.
  • McIver v. State of Georgia, - Georgia Supreme Court, S22A0093 (The Georgia Supreme Court reversed the defendant’s murder conviction because the trial court failed to charge the jury as to a lesser included offense. Further the Georgia Supreme Court found that the trial court erred in admitting irrelevant evidence during the trial.)
  • Kimbrough v. State of Georgia – Georgia Supreme Court, S16A1610 (The Georgia Supreme Court reversed the ruling of the trial court, agreeing with the defendant that the State had failed to sufficiently particularize their indictment, resulting in a dismissal of that indictment.)
  • United States of America v. Frank Randolph – Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, No. 13-5477 (The Sixth Circuit overturned Mr. Randolph’s conviction for drug conspiracy.)
  • United States of America v. Moore – Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky – The United States Government alleged Dr. Moore illegally prescribed opioid medication, thereby violating the Controlled Substances Act. After weeks of trial, in this multi-defendant case, Dr. Moore was the only defendant acquitted of all charges.
  • State of Georgia v. Candler – Client charged with Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer; he allegedly pointed an AR-15 rifle at police officers responding to a suicide threat at his house. Client acquitted of all charges after a one-week jury trial.
  • United States of America v. Perry Green – Federal District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. The Government alleged Mr. Green was a member of the Gangster Disciples, and that he personally participated in the murder of a rival gang member. Mr. Green was facing a potential life sentence. After a 5-week trial, Mr. Green was the sole defendant acquitted of all charges by the jury.
  • State of Georgia v. Dimon – Clayton County State Court. Client charged with Trespass and Simple Battery. After a week-long trial, Client was acquitted of all charges after the jury deliberated for less than 10 minutes.
