When people in Fulton County, Georgia choose to operate a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, they may think they are only putting themselves in danger. Sadly, this just isn’t the case. Oftentimes, it is innocent motorists who pay the ultimate price of the carelessness of intoxicated drivers.
This seems to be the case for a fatal accident that occurred just west of Adairsville, Georgia recently. A Mercedes driven by a 55-year-old Thankful Baptist Church Reverend was traveling eastbound on Ga. 140 at around 8:30 p.m. when a pickup truck crossed the center line and slammed head on into the Mercedes at Big Oak Tree Road.
The driver of the Mercedes was killed in the accident; his wife who was a passenger in the vehicle was taken to the hospital where her condition was listed as critical.
The 47-year-old driver of the pickup truck and her 46-year-old passenger were both injured in the accident and were transported to the hospital for treatment. After authorities completed their investigation into the collision, the truck’s driver was charged with a number of counts including DUI, first degree vehicular homicide, serious injury by vehicle and driving on the wrong side of the road.
The family members of the man killed in this accident and the woman who was injured may wish to consult with a personal injury attorney about their right to compensation. A lawyer can look over the details of the crash and advise the family on the best way to proceed with their case.
