The sheer size and weight of commercial vehicles makes them extremely dangerous. That is why truck drivers are required to undergo extra training and maintain license credentials. Unfortunately, however, there are instances where a lack of proper training, supervision, or oversight results in serious accidents. While details concerning the incident had yet to be provided to the public, a recent fatal accident involving a Georgia resident serves as a sobering reminder that commercial trucks can pose a real threat to the public.
According to initial reports, a 56-year-old man from Trenton, Georgia, died after a trailer fell off of a truck and landed on top of him. The truck driver involved in the incident sought emergency services after the accident occurred. He reportedly found the accident victim after exiting the vehicle. The trailer began to fall off the truck while the vehicle is in motion.
Several emergency services responded to the incident, and authorities were reportedly conducting an accident investigation. There was no word on how fast the truck was moving when the trailer tipped over. Nor was it stated whether the trailer was properly fastened to the vehicle prior to falling. In addition to considering the factors that contributed to the accident victim’s death, investigators may have also looked into the actions of the truck driver in the time leading up to the incident.
Unexpected fatal accidents often have a profound impact on victims’ families and loved ones. And preventable incidents are known to be especially traumatic for all involved. That is why people can speak to an experienced attorney about their rights as potential wrongful death claimants.
