Having another driver tailgating you on the streets of Fulton County can not only be annoying, it can be dangerous as well. In fact, following too closely behind another vehicle is one of the most common reasons for car accidents. When drivers do not allow ample room between themselves and the car in front of them, they may not have enough time to stop to avoid a collision.
A 28-year-old driver of a box truck was charged with following too closely after causing an accident that sent five people to the hospital. The box truck driver crashed into the back of a Honda that was traveling along a highway. The impact sent the Honda across the center line and head-on into a pickup truck. The Honda’s 20-year-old driver was trapped in the car and authorities relied on extraction tools to get her out. She was flown to Atlanta Medical Center where she remains on life support. The woman’s 2-year-old daughter and 13-year-old sister were passengers in the car at the time of the accident and were also taken to the hospital for treatment.
The driver of the pickup truck was taken to the hospital via ambulance; his passenger was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center. They have both been released. The driver of the box truck that caused the accident refused treatment.
Many lives were affected by the actions of one driver who was following too closely. Those who were injured in this accident may wish to speak with legal counsel to discuss their case.
